The recent military strikes on Iran by the U.S. and Israel were characterized as a significant and coordinated attack that was authorized by President Donald Trump. Air Force Gen. Dan Caine, speaking at a press conference in Washington, disclosed that over 100 aircraft were deployed in a synchronized assault targeting more than a thousand locations within the first day.

The operation was initiated following the President’s approval on Friday afternoon while he was en route to Texas with Republican senators and actor Dennis Quaid. The order was transmitted through Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to Adm. Brad Cooper of U.S. Central Command, responsible for the Middle East region.

Reports indicated that the strikes targeted senior Iranian officials, resulting in casualties including Iran’s Defense Minister and Revolutionary Guards Commander. The U.S.-Israeli operation reportedly led to the deaths of hundreds of individuals, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and members of his family.

The coordinated efforts with the Israeli military were described as unprecedented in scale by Gen. Caine. The operation also involved cyber operations preceding the air and land attacks, disrupting Iranian communication and sensor networks.

President Trump justified the airstrikes as a preemptive measure to eliminate threats posed by Iran, safeguard U.S. interests, and prevent the country from acquiring nuclear weapons. The Pentagon officials emphasized the extensive planning and military buildup that preceded the assault, including the deployment of aircraft carriers to the region.

While air superiority has been established over Iran, the aftermath of the strikes and the potential implications remain uncertain. The U.S. administration has encouraged the Iranian populace to seize the moment, hinting at possible future actions without divulging specific details. Reports suggested that in the event of Khamenei’s demise, hard-line elements within Iran could potentially assume leadership roles.
