“Tariff Dispute Turns Violent at Calgary Grocery Store”

A man in southwest Calgary is in trouble with the law after a disagreement over tariffs at a grocery store led to him threatening to shoot another man in front of his family, according to police. The incident occurred at the Woodbine Safeway on September 3, where a man, accompanied by his wife and child, was confronted by a 49-year-old stranger who started making tariff-related comments. The situation escalated as the suspect began making anti-Canadian and pro-American statements, eventually leading to threats of violence. The suspect was later found at his residence in Woodlands, where police discovered firearms and ammunition. Charges against the man include uttering threats, possession of an unlicensed weapon, and careless storage of a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 17. Staff Sgt. Joe Hebert emphasized the seriousness of the situation, highlighting the potential danger it posed.
