Suri Cruise Drops Father’s Surname for Noelle

The daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes has officially removed her father’s surname. Public records accessed by CBC News reveal that she is now registered as Suri Noelle for voting purposes in Pennsylvania. Noelle, aged 20, resides in Pittsburgh and is currently enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University.

Suri’s decision to adopt the name Noelle appears to be a nod to her mother, the renowned actress Katie Noelle Holmes from the TV series “Dawson’s Creek.” According to TMZ, Suri has been estranged from her father, Hollywood icon Tom Cruise, since she was seven years old. Cruise and Holmes finalized their divorce settlement in 2012 amid widespread media coverage that portrayed Holmes as liberating herself from a marriage heavily influenced by the Church of Scientology.

Although the couple expressed a commitment to co-parenting following their split, Holmes has primarily raised their daughter in New York City. The exact timing of the name change remains unclear, but records show that Noelle transitioned to using the name Suri Noelle when she graduated from high school in 2024, as reported by Page Six.

Suri joins a growing list of celebrity offspring who have distanced themselves from their fathers post their parents’ high-profile divorces. Notably, five of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s children have also legally or publicly removed Pitt from their last name. Additionally, People magazine recently highlighted the name adjustment of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline’s 20-year-old son, who changed his Instagram handle from Sean Preston Federline to Sean P. Spears.
