Grab a glass of rosé and prepare to enjoy the upcoming Canadian version of “Summer House,” as it trades the Hamptons for the picturesque cottage country of Ontario. Hayu, NBCUniversal’s reality streaming service, in collaboration with B.C.-based Lark Productions, has officially begun production on “Summer House Canada” in the beautiful Muskoka region, marking the show’s first international adaptation.
Hendrik McDermott, NBCUniversal’s managing director of international DTC, expressed excitement about Muskoka being the ideal Canadian backdrop for “Summer House Canada,” highlighting the franchise’s growing popularity. Just like its American counterpart, the Canadian edition will center around a group of friends who spend weekends at a shared cottage, navigating relationships and drama.
Erin Haskett, president of Lark Productions, praised the global success of “Summer House” for its authentic friendships and memorable moments. The Canadian reality TV landscape has seen other adaptations like “Canada Shore,” currently filming its second season in Kelowna, B.C., and the anticipated return of “Big Brother Canada.”
The announcement of “Summer House Canada” follows the recent Emmy nomination for the U.S. version and the aftermath of its latest season, which was marked by revelations of secret relationships among cast members. The Canadian series will consist of 10 episodes exclusively streaming on Hayu, with casting details to be revealed in the upcoming months. Viewers can expect the premiere of “Summer House Canada” in 2027.
