“Signed Crosby & MacKinnon Jerseys Stolen from Halifax Bar”

A Halifax bar was the target of a theft where signed and framed jerseys of Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon were stolen on Tuesday night. The owner of Big Leagues Brew Pub is considering offering a reward to retrieve the stolen items. Video footage of the theft was shared on the bar’s Facebook page.

Expressing his dismay, Jamie Latter, the owner of Big Leagues, stated that he was deeply upset by the incident and couldn’t sleep after watching the video multiple times. The theft occurred just before the Canadian men’s hockey team, including MacKinnon and Crosby, emerged victorious against Czechia in the Olympic quarterfinals.

Latter revealed that the theft was executed swiftly by an individual wearing a mask who entered the premises just before closing time and absconded with the jerseys. The stolen memorabilia, acquired at an auction in Cole Harbour, are estimated to be valued between $3,000 to $4,000.

The stolen jerseys were securely fastened to the wall using special security brackets, leading Latter to believe that the thieves had scoped out the location in advance. Despite the setback, Big Leagues continues to attract customers, especially during the Olympics viewing period.

Halifax Regional Police confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, following the theft at Big Leagues bar. The incident involved two suspects arriving in a vehicle, with one individual entering the bar to steal the jerseys before fleeing the scene. There were no injuries reported during the theft.

Latter recounted a similar incident at his Cole Harbour location, where offering a reward led to the identification of the culprit within 24 hours, although the stolen property was not recovered. The police are actively looking into the case to apprehend the perpetrators.
