Kansas City Football Team Confronts Domestic Violence Allegations

Kansas City’s professional football team acknowledged on Wednesday night that they were informed of allegations of domestic violence through social media posts made by a former partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice. The team confirmed that they have been in contact with the NFL regarding the matter but refrained from providing further details at this time.

Although the team did not explicitly mention Rice in their statement, Dacoda Nichole Jones shared a series of photos on her Instagram account earlier that day, hinting at signs of physical abuse. Jones indicated that the individual involved was the father of her children, and she shares two children with Rice, who was drafted by Kansas City in the second round of the 2023 selection process.

The alleged abuse was reported to have taken place in Overland Park, Kansas, but no official police reports have been made available. Rice had a delayed start to the current season, missing the initial six games due to an NFL suspension stemming from his involvement in a car crash on a Dallas highway during the 2024 offseason. Subsequently, Rice was sentenced to a month in jail and placed on five years’ probation after pleading guilty to third-degree felony charges related to the accident.

During the past season, Rice recorded 53 receptions for 571 yards and scored five touchdowns while Kansas City struggled, finishing with a 6-11 record and failing to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in ten years.
