Former Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk has announced his decision to request a trade from the team he has been with for eight seasons, signaling a new chapter in his career. The trade was finalized on Sunday, with Tkachuk moving to the Florida Panthers to join his brother Matthew. In exchange, Ottawa received four draft picks from the Panthers.
After appearing on their Wingmen podcast with his brother, Tkachuk participated in a news conference with the Florida Panthers. He expressed gratitude to the city of Ottawa, his teammates, and team management for their support throughout his time with the Senators. Tkachuk also mentioned significant personal milestones, such as getting married and becoming a father of two during his tenure in Ottawa.
Ottawa Senators president and general manager Steve Staios confirmed that Tkachuk requested the trade shortly after the end of the team’s season. However, the specific reasons behind Tkachuk’s decision were not disclosed.
During the news conference, Tkachuk emphasized that the move was about starting a new chapter and was not an easy choice for him. He did not elaborate on the factors that led to his decision.
