Audrey Leduc secured her third consecutive national championship in the women’s 200 meters at the Canadian track and field championships, setting a new championship record time on Sunday. Leduc crossed the finish line in 22.38 seconds, dominating the competition over Marie-Eloise Leclair (22.87) and Alyssa Marsh (22.95).
On the men’s side, Aaron Brown claimed victory with a swift time of 20.33 seconds. The Toronto native, now a six-time Canadian 200-meter champion, outpaced Eliezer Adjibi (20.37) and Brendon Rodney (20.60) in the race.
Meanwhile, in the men’s 1,500 meters, Marco Arop narrowly missed clinching his first national title outside the 800-meter event, finishing with a time of 3:38.28. Foster Malleck emerged as the surprise winner, securing his inaugural Canadian title with a time of 3:37.68.
Arop, a seasoned athlete with two world championship titles and an Olympic silver medal, opted to debut in the 1,500 meters instead of pursuing his fifth consecutive 800-meter national title at this year’s competition.
In the women’s 1,500 meters final, Lucia Stafford claimed victory by posting a time of 4:08.66, with Maggie Smith (4:12.73) and Grace Fetherstonhaugh (4:13.55) following in second and third place, respectively.
