A Calgary elderly woman, missing for close to fourteen days, was discovered deceased in Saskatchewan, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney confirmed that the body of 82-year-old Diane Cooper was found in the rural municipality of Grandview, Sask., near Kindersley at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Saturday.
In a social media update shared by Cooper’s granddaughter, Zoe Cooper, on Sunday, it was revealed that her grandmother had sadly passed away. Expressing deep gratitude for the search efforts and outpouring of support, Zoe Cooper mentioned that the family was devastated by the news.
Cooper’s journey began on April 6 when she departed Calgary at 3:30 p.m. CST. She was last spotted in Hoosier, Sask., with her Dalmatian dog Halo around 11 p.m. that same day, approximately 18 kilometers from the Alberta-Saskatchewan border.
Despite the tragic outcome, Halo, the dog, was found unharmed, as reported by Slaney. The search for Cooper involved a collaborative effort between law enforcement and civilians from both provinces, initiated after the tracking device in her vehicle ceased to provide her location.
The RCMP coordinated extensive search operations, deploying resources such as RCMP Air Services and multiple RCMP detachments to patrol the roadways in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Slaney extended the RCMP’s condolences to Cooper’s family and friends, emphasizing that the circumstances surrounding her death were deemed non-suspicious.
