Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his first home run of the season at Rogers Centre in Toronto during Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles. The 2023 Home Run Derby champion’s ninth homer of the year came in the fifth inning off Trevor Rogers, a 350-foot blast into the left field bullpen. The Blue Jays, in their 75th home game, celebrated enthusiastically in the dugout, with manager John Schneider praising Guerrero as the team’s key player.
With a batting average of .265 and 56 RBIs in 135 games, Guerrero has been a standout performer this season. The sellout crowd of 41,805 fans cheered him on, prompting Guerrero to acknowledge their support with a curtain call. Guerrero’s home run against Baltimore marked his 29th career homer against them, the most he has hit against any team. Interestingly, the hit would have been a home run in six out of the 30 major league stadiums.
Having excelled in the postseason last October with eight home runs in 18 games, Guerrero’s hitting prowess is well established. As a six-time All-Star, he had previously homered in Toronto in a game against Texas in August 2025. Guerrero’s performance on Sunday also included a second four-hit game of the season, showcasing his consistent offensive capabilities.
