U.S. military forces targeted Iranian rocket launchers in the Strait of Hormuz in the latest military operation, as per a U.S. official’s statement on Sunday. Reports from semi-official sources in Iran indicated hearing explosions near Larak Island in the strait.
The American official, who preferred to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the information, disclosed that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was observed making preparations to deploy rockets armed with sea mines into the strait. Just last week, the U.S. military completed the clearance of sea mines from the international shipping lanes in the strait.
In response to the attack, Iran’s state broadcaster carried a statement from the IRGC mentioning the casualties among their personnel and civilians. The statement warned of retaliatory actions against the aggressor for the incident.
