“The Lost Boys” and “Schmigadoon!” Lead Tony Award Nominations

The musical productions “The Lost Boys” and “Schmigadoon!” stood out with 12 Tony Award nominations each, leading the pack. June Squibb, aged 96, made history as the oldest Tony-nominated actor, while Danny Burstein became the most-nominated male actor in Tony history.

Following closely were the revival of “Ragtime” with 11 nominations and “Death of a Salesman” with nine nods. A total of 24 shows received nominations across the 26 Tony categories, including unique productions like “Cats: The Jellicle Ball” and a revival of “Chess.”

Competing for the best new musical title are “The Lost Boys,” “Schmigadoon!,” “Titanique,” and “Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York).” In the best new play category, nominees include “Giant,” “Liberation,” “The Balusters,” and “Little Bear Ridge Road.”

June Squibb, nominated for “Marjorie Prime,” now holds the record for the oldest Tony-nominated actor, surpassing Lois Smith. Meanwhile, Danny Burstein earned his ninth nomination, becoming the most-nominated male actor in Tony history.

Notable acting nominees include Daniel Radcliffe, John Lithgow, and Rose Byrne. The Tony Awards ceremony is scheduled for June 7 at Radio City Music Hall, hosted by Pink and airing live on CBS and Paramount+. Last year’s broadcast drew a significant audience, marking a resurgence in viewership for the event.
