The Prime Video series “Every Year After,” adapted from Carley Fortune’s popular novel “Every Summer After,” has been confirmed for a second season. Starring Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett, and produced by Carley Fortune, the show premiered earlier this summer.

The storyline of “Every Summer After” explores the complex relationship between childhood friends Percy and Sam, who reunite after years apart at a funeral, delving into their shared past and unresolved feelings.

The upcoming season of “Every Year After” will draw inspiration from Fortune’s book “One Golden Summer,” set in Barry’s Bay, Ont. This installment focuses on Charlie, Sam’s brother, as he embarks on a romantic journey with Alice, a photographer seeking solace at her childhood cottage.

Peter Friendlander, Prime Video’s head of global TV, commended the positive reception to “Every Year After,” highlighting the broad appeal of Carley Fortune’s narratives and the strong connection viewers have formed with the Barry’s Bay universe.

Carley Fortune, a renowned author and journalist based in Toronto, has penned several successful books, including “Meet Me at the Lake,” “Every Summer After,” “One Golden Summer,” “This Summer Will Be Different,” and “Our Perfect Storm.” “Meet Me at the Lake” was a finalist on Canada Reads in 2024, championed by fashion influencer Mirian Njoh, marking the first romance novel to feature on the program.

“Every Year After” is currently available for streaming on Prime Video.
