“Fog Forces World Cup Super-G Event Cancellation”

Persistent fog led to the cancellation of the men’s World Cup super-G event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, marking the first such cancellation since the Milano-Cortina Olympics. Low clouds at the Kandahar course restricted visibility, making it unsafe to conduct the race. Despite efforts to adjust the start gate and delay the race, the International Ski & Snowboard Federation called off the event due to limited visibility caused by the fog.

The race has been rescheduled for March 13 in Courchevel, France, as announced by FIS men’s race director Markus Waldner. Marco Odermatt currently dominates the super-G season standings with a substantial lead of 158 points, holding 425 points, followed by Vincent Kriechmayr of Austria with 267 points. The upcoming men’s World Cup events include a slalom and a GS in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, scheduled for the following weekend.
