Share

After a series of mysterious hints, such as a large ice block installation in downtown Toronto and a CN Tower takeover, Drake has finally released his highly anticipated ninth studio album, “Iceman,” along with two surprise albums, “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour.” These albums were unveiled during his recent livestream event, “Iceman Episode 4,” where he introduced a total of 43 songs that run for about two and a half hours, with “Iceman” being the main focus.

Drake had been teasing “Iceman” since August 2024, after his well-known rap battle with Kendrick Lamar. During his tour in Australia in 2025, Drake mentioned that the album would be a personal and essential listening experience for his fans.

While Drake collaborated on a joint album with PartyNextDoor in 2025, “Iceman” marks his first solo releases since 2023’s “For all the Dogs.” There is a lot at stake for Drake with these albums, as his status in the rap scene and his pursuit of another No. 1 hit, which would surpass Michael Jackson’s record, have been under scrutiny since his feud with Lamar.

In the opening track of “Iceman,” titled “Make Them Cry,” Drake addresses the aftermath of his feud with Lamar, reflecting on its impact and hinting at a fresh start. Throughout the albums, he delves into his feelings about the feud, taking new jabs at Lamar, DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky, DeMar DeRozan, LeBron James, Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge, and even questioning his relationship with J. Cole.

The music videos for “Iceman” feature iconic Toronto locations, showcasing Drake at spots like Yorkville restaurant Sotto Sotto, the Brass Rail strip club, and the CN Tower. The visuals highlight Drake’s connection to his hometown, with scenes shot at various recognizable landmarks.

Additionally, Drake incorporates Canadian symbols and references in his music, celebrating his roots and connecting with his audience on a national level. The albums offer a mix of emotions and themes, from revisiting past conflicts in “Iceman” to exploring love and party vibes in “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour.”

Overall, Drake’s latest releases cater to a diverse audience, offering a range of sounds and styles that showcase his versatility as an artist.
