Canada’s national men’s soccer team is set to play against Iceland and Tunisia in the upcoming March international window, with both matches scheduled to take place at Toronto’s BMO Field. The 29th-ranked Canadian team will first meet Iceland on March 28 and then face Tunisia on March 31. Additionally, both visiting teams, Iceland and Tunisia, will have a second game during the same window, competing against Haiti in Toronto.
Looking ahead, Canada will be playing against Uzbekistan, ranked 52nd, in Edmonton on June 1, with one more opponent yet to be announced. The team, led by Jesse Marsch, will also have a final World Cup warmup match against a European team in Montreal on June 5 or 6.
The World Cup journey for Canada begins on June 12 with a match against a European qualifier in Toronto. Subsequently, the team will head to Vancouver to play against Qatar, ranked 56th, on June 18, followed by a match against Switzerland, ranked 18th, on June 24.
Tunisia, currently ranked 47th globally, earned their spot in the World Cup by finishing unbeaten at the top of their African qualifying group with a remarkable 9-0-1 record. In contrast, Iceland, ranked 74th, fell short of qualification after finishing third in their European qualifying group with a record of 2-3-1. Notably, France secured their place in the World Cup by claiming the top spot in the group, while Ukraine progressed to the UEFA playoffs as the runner-up.
Haiti, holding the 83rd position in the global rankings, has also successfully qualified for the World Cup, adding to the diverse mix of teams gearing up for the tournament.
