After a tragic shooting incident on June 22, it was initially speculated on social media that a Montreal police officer had fired the fatal shot that killed civilian Michel Mizrahi. However, according to sources from Radio-Canada, this information is false. La Presse was the first to report this development.
The autopsy results revealed that Mizrahi sustained multiple gunshot wounds, with a fatal shot to the head. Forensic analysis indicated that the fatal shot had a left-to-right trajectory, contradicting the officer’s positioning during the incident. Therefore, it was concluded that the shot did not come from the police officer’s firearm.
The police officer, who had been on the force for only 15 months, was reportedly being pursued by the perpetrator. Prior to Mizrahi’s death, the perpetrator had also fatally shot the officer’s patrol partner, Const. Mohamed Lamine Benredouane.
The shooter, armed with an SKS rifle, was later shot and killed by the police. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, led by Quebec’s police watchdog, the provincial police service, and the coroner’s office.
