Netflix has revealed that its popular reality dating series, “Love is Blind,” is making its way to Canada after being a hit in the United States. The unique concept involves single individuals entering pods to communicate, flirt, date, and potentially fall in love without seeing each other. Engagements take place behind walls, and couples later meet face-to-face to test their chemistry on a luxurious trip before deciding whether to get married.

Netflix has opened casting for Canadians interested in participating in the show. Excited fans like Fernanda Estrada De La Rosa from Vancouver have eagerly applied, seeing this as a refreshing change in the challenging dating scene in Canada.

The show’s expansion to Canada follows a trend of reality shows receiving Canadian adaptations, such as the return of “Big Brother Canada” and the filming of the Canadian version of “Jersey Shore” in Kelowna, B.C. Pop culture critic Katherine Singh notes that Canada is currently in the media spotlight, with various hits and trending topics showcasing the country’s presence in the zeitgeist.

Canadian TV producer Sean De Vries, known for his work on “The Bachelor Canada,” believes that the enthusiasm for “Love is Blind” makes it a natural choice for a Canadian spinoff. Authenticity is highlighted as a key factor in successful dating shows, and the Canadian version is being produced by Insight Productions, the company behind popular reality shows like “Big Brother Canada.”

Interested participants must be at least 19 years old and Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Since its inception, “Love is Blind” has seen success in the U.S. with multiple seasons and spinoffs in various countries. The U.S. version is hosted by Vanessa and Nick Lachey, but the Canadian host for the spinoff has not been announced yet.
