“Marina Mabrey Records 37 Points, Leads Toronto Tempo to Win”

Marina Mabrey had an outstanding performance, scoring a career-best 37 points and equaling the WNBA single-game record by sinking nine 3-pointers to lead the Toronto Tempo to a thrilling 101-97 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Friday night. Mabrey’s remarkable display included 21 points in the final quarter, propelling the Tempo to overcome a 16-point deficit in the second half. She showcased exceptional accuracy, hitting 9 of 12 shots from beyond the arc, while also contributing four rebounds and four assists.

Temi Fagbenle delivered a solid performance by shooting 8 for 9 from the field, finishing with 19 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Maria Conde provided crucial support off the bench, also tallying 19 points and securing six rebounds.

Despite falling behind 50-37 at halftime, Toronto staged an impressive comeback in the second half, outscoring Connecticut 64-47 to secure the victory and halt a three-game losing streak. Kennedy Burke led the Sun with 18 points off the bench, but Connecticut suffered their seventh consecutive defeat. Leila Lacan and Brittney Griner added 16 points each, while Olivia Nelson-Ododa contributed 13 points.

In upcoming fixtures, the Tempo will face the Atlanta Dream on Monday, while the Sun are set to host the Chicago Sky on the same day.
