Zach Werenski, a player for the Columbus Blue Jackets, was awarded the Norris Trophy for being the NHL’s top defenseman, the league revealed on Tuesday. Werenski ranked second in points among defensemen, boasting 22 goals and 59 assists for a total of 81 points. This marks his first time winning the prestigious accolade in his career. The 28-year-old received the most votes from members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association, with 113 first-place selections. Following Werenski, Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche secured the second spot, followed by Rasmus Dahlin of the Buffalo Sabres in third, and Evan Bouchard of the Edmonton Oilers in fourth place.
