“Montreal Metro Back on Track After Technical Issue”

Montreal’s Metro service has resumed normal operations following a technical issue that led to a temporary closure on Tuesday. The shutdown commenced around 11:15 a.m., with the STM confirming the system’s restoration by 12:15 p.m. STM spokesperson Renaud Martel-Théorêt explained that a disruption in communication between the trains and the control room, likely due to maintenance work at Berri-UQAM station, caused the service interruption.

While no evacuations were necessary, passengers were requested to clear the platforms as a precautionary measure. To minimize inconvenience, temporary bus services were arranged. An investigation is ongoing to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.

This incident followed a previous disruption on the Yellow line during the Monday morning rush hour due to water infiltration and accumulation in a tunnel between Longueuil-Université-de-Sherbrooke and Berri-UQAM stations.
