A St. John’s family physician, Marcus Hancock, is facing multiple charges, including allegations of harassing his former partner and fabricating a medical report to have his ex-father-in-law’s driving privileges suspended. Hancock is scheduled to appear in provincial court on February 12, where he will face charges such as criminal harassment, breach of trust, and uttering a forged document.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary sought an extension to retain evidence related to the case against Hancock before formally charging him. The police submitted a sworn affidavit to the court outlining the investigation’s details and the accusations against Hancock, which are yet to be proven in court.
The allegations suggest that Hancock began harassing his ex-partner six months after their relationship ended in January 2024. The RNC affidavit revealed instances where Hancock drove past her residence multiple times without a valid reason and sent numerous text messages and emails, despite being asked to stop.
Furthermore, Hancock is accused of interfering in a business deal to prevent his ex from purchasing the business. In a separate incident, it is alleged that Hancock submitted a falsified physician’s report, claiming to be the family doctor of his ex-father-in-law, leading to the latter’s license suspension for alleged alcohol-related issues.
Hancock’s ex-father-in-law disputed the claims, providing evidence from his long-term doctor stating he had no history of alcohol-related problems. Subsequently, the license suspension was overturned. Hancock’s ex-partner reported criminal harassment to the police in November 2024, while Hancock counter-complained in March 2025, alleging harassment against him.
Further investigations revealed that Hancock’s medical records were reportedly altered, and false statements were made to the authorities regarding his ex-partner and her father. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador suspended Hancock’s medical license, citing fraudulent activities and data alterations.
Despite maintaining his innocence and claiming the evidence against him is false, Hancock’s medical license remains suspended. He faces charges of computer data alteration and impersonating a CPSNL investigator. Hancock has denied any wrongdoing in several social media videos.
