Kori Cheverie has been appointed as the head coach of the Canadian women’s national hockey team for the upcoming world championship in Esbjerg, Denmark, as announced by Hockey Canada. The tournament is scheduled to run from November 6 to 16.

In addition to leading the team at the upcoming championship, Cheverie will continue in her coaching role for the 2026-27 season. Previously, the 39-year-old guided the PWHL’s Montréal Victoire to victory in the Walter Cup last season. Joining Cheverie are assistant coaches Caroline Ouellette and Kris Sparre.

Cheverie also contributed as an assistant coach to the Canadian women’s team, which secured a silver medal at the 2026 Olympics in Italy. Expressing her enthusiasm, Cheverie stated, “I am incredibly proud and honored to have the opportunity to lead Canada’s national women’s team.” She added, “With the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship approaching in November, I am eager to collaborate with our talented athletes and staff to advance this program further.”

The Canadian team is set to convene in Quebec City for a selection camp from October 8 to 14, featuring a mix of on-ice and off-ice training sessions. The camp will culminate in two intra-squad games on October 12 and 14 at the Centre Vidéotron. Additionally, the team will face the reigning Olympic champions, the United States, in a pre-tournament match in Windsor on October 28.
