Zahara Marley Jolie has had a significant year, celebrating her 21st birthday in January, graduating from college in May, and recently filing a formal request to change her last name from her father’s. According to court records, she submitted the name change application to become Zahara Marley Jolie on June 5. Her brother, aged 24, also applied to change his name to Maddox Chivan Jolie just four days prior. In a previous instance, their younger sibling Shiloh had removed Pitt from her name back in 2024.
This move has reignited speculation about the family dynamics of the Jolie-Pitt household, which has been under public scrutiny since the high-profile relationship of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt began in 2005, continuing through their contentious separation in 2016.
Following an eight-year legal process, Jolie was granted sole custody of their six children in November 2016, with the agreement also stipulating ongoing therapeutic visits for Pitt. Despite Pitt’s public acknowledgment of his struggles with alcohol and his commitment to sobriety since 2016 with support from Alcoholics Anonymous, there are indications of strained relationships with his children. Pitt has not been seen in public with them for an extended period, while Jolie frequently appears with their children at red carpet events and discusses them openly in the media.
Despite efforts to reach out for comment, there has been no response from Pitt’s representatives to CBC News.
