“Vancouver Honors Ryan Reynolds with Freedom Award”

The City of Vancouver has granted its highest accolade to renowned Hollywood actor, Ryan Reynolds. Recognizing his philanthropic and cultural contributions, Reynolds was presented with the Freedom of the City award in a private ceremony. Hailing from Vancouver, Reynolds is a well-known figure in Hollywood, gaining fame for his portrayal of the Marvel Comics’ superhero character in the Deadpool series.

Vancouver lauds Reynolds for his consistent support of local charities like Covenant House Vancouver and the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, as well as his generous donations in response to the 2021 B.C. floods. Expressing his gratitude in a city news release, Reynolds remarked, “This means the world to me. Vancouver shaped who I am, and I carry it with me in everything I do. To now be part of its history in this way is both humbling and surreal, and I’m deeply grateful to be recognized by the city that gave me my start.”

Having previously received the Order of British Columbia and the Order of Canada, Reynolds now adds the prestigious Freedom of the City award to his accolades. This honor is reserved for exceptional individuals who have achieved remarkable success on a national and international scale while also bringing positive attention to Vancouver.
