The Tempo made a splash with the appointments of general manager Monica Wright Rogers in February 2025 and head coach Sandy Brondello in November. Brondello, who boasts championship wins with both the New York Liberty (2022-2025) and Phoenix Mercury (2014-2021), faces the challenge of building a roster from scratch as the team currently has over 30 staff members but no players.
The team is set to play its inaugural game on May 8 against the Washington Mystics in Toronto. Brondello, with over 20 years of coaching experience, remains focused on preparation amidst the looming possibility of a work stoppage until players are acquired, emphasizing the importance of being ready for a quick turnaround once the CBA is finalized.
