A 27-year-old man from Peterborough is facing numerous charges, including attempted murder and firearm offenses, following the incident. The police responded to a robbery call concerning a stolen e-bike at around 3:21 a.m. in the Queen Street E. and Sherbourne Street area. The suspect was quickly apprehended after fleeing the scene, during which he allegedly shot one of the officers. The injured officer received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.
The suspect, who was out on bail for weapons-related offenses, had warrants in Peel Region and Waterloo. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities piecing together the events leading up to the shooting. Another individual involved in the incident remains at large.
