Chrysler’s parent company, Stellantis, announced on Friday that it will initiate a global recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt concern. The recall applies to Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026 that may have a second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor that was improperly attached to the vehicle’s body structure.
This issue could affect the functionality of the second-row seat belt system, potentially increasing the risk of injury to passengers. Stellantis has reported one injury associated with this problem but no fatalities.
The recall affects 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside of North America. Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by the automaker to arrange for an inspection at authorized dealerships. During the inspection, dealers will examine and properly attach the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchors to the vehicle’s body if necessary.
