Pop singer Sabrina Carpenter has successfully obtained a temporary restraining order against an individual who allegedly attempted to enter her Los Angeles residence without permission, describing the incidents as “deeply alarming.” Legal documents reveal that Carpenter, represented by her attorneys, is pursuing a permanent restraining order against William Applegate, aged 31.
In a sworn statement, Carpenter detailed an incident on May 23 where Applegate reportedly trespassed onto a neighboring property to access the security fencing around her home. Subsequently, he approached her front door and forcibly attempted to gain entry by grabbing the handle, actions Carpenter described as deliberate and aggressive, causing her significant distress and fear.
Carpenter presented evidence, including Ring security camera footage showing the individual at her doorstep, to support her claims. Following intervention by her private security, Applegate allegedly made false assertions of knowing Carpenter personally and being expected, claims Carpenter vehemently denied as fabrications.
Applegate was reportedly arrested on the same day as the initial incident but returned to Carpenter’s residence less than 24 hours later, waiting outside for an extended period. This behavior continued over subsequent days, leading to further police involvement, with images of Applegate’s vehicle submitted as evidence in the legal proceedings.
The court documents indicate that Applegate’s actions had been ongoing since at least April 20, 2026, with Carpenter highlighting a concerning escalation in his behavior over the following month. Detective Peter Doomanis of the Los Angeles Police Department described Applegate as having a “disturbing and irrational fixation” on Carpenter in his statement.
A judge has mandated that Applegate must maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Carpenter, her residence, vehicle, workplace, as well as her sister and her sister’s boyfriend, who reside with her. A court hearing is scheduled for June 17, with Applegate also facing criminal trespassing charges in a separate court appearance on June 18.
