The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for a batch of No Name frozen beef burgers over concerns of E. coli contamination. The affected burgers, which were distributed nationwide in 1.36 kg boxes, bear a best before date of May 5, 2026.
Consumers are urged to discard the impacted product or return it to the place of purchase and refrain from cooking or consuming the burgers. E. coli O157:H7 contamination may not exhibit visible signs of spoilage, yet it can cause illness.
Symptoms of E. coli contamination may manifest as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and watery to bloody diarrhea, with severe cases potentially leading to stroke or kidney damage. While there have been no reported illnesses associated with the recall, the CFIA is conducting further investigations and warns of the possibility of additional product recalls.
