To kick off the World Cup festivities, Niagara Falls will illuminate in tribute to Canada, Mexico, and the United States, the three countries hosting the event. The spectacle will commence at 10 p.m. on June 11 with a dazzling 15-minute light display honoring the international soccer tournament. Niagara Parks announced that the Falls will glow in the colors of green, red, and white to represent Mexico.
Throughout the tournament, a nightly light show will take place, featuring the hues of each host nation on their respective match days during the group stage. For instance, on June 12, the Falls will be illuminated in red and white for Canada, followed by red, white, and blue for the United States.
The Niagara Falls Illumination Board, overseeing the Falls’ lighting since 1925, includes members from the cities of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, New York, as well as Ontario Power Generation Inc., New York Power Authority, New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and the Niagara Parks Commission.
