Poulin maneuvered past the Minnesota defense to score with a backhand shot, besting goaltender Maddie Rooney in front of a packed crowd of 10,172 at Place Bell. This goal extended Poulin’s impressive five-game point streak.
Abby Roque also found the back of the net for Montreal, with Poulin providing the assist for a three-point performance. Ann-Renee Desbiens made 19 saves for the Victoire. On the other side, Mae Batherson and Kendall Coyne Schofield scored for Minnesota, with Rooney making 35 saves in her second consecutive start.
Late goals in the third period forced the game into overtime. Coyne Schofield’s eighth goal of the season gave Minnesota a 2-1 lead with only 1:50 left on the clock. However, Roque managed to tip in Poulin’s pass with just 28.7 seconds remaining, tying the game at 2-2.
Batherson opened the scoring with a shot from the left circle early in the second period, beating Desbiens for her second goal of the season. Roque later assisted Poulin’s goal to level the score before the thrilling overtime finish.
Montreal outshot Minnesota 38-21, despite the Frost having a 9-7 shot advantage in the first period. Notably, the game saw Erin Ambrose of Montreal sidelined due to illness, while Minnesota’s Dominique Petrie left the game due to injury.
In the final analysis, Minnesota concluded a busy four-game road trip with two wins out of four, earning six points. Meanwhile, Montreal, led by Poulin, ended a three-game losing streak, climbing out of last place in the PWHL standings.
