Share

Kendall Coyne Schofield showcased her scoring prowess by netting two goals, leading the Minnesota Frost to a 5-1 victory over the Toronto Sceptres in Toronto on Tuesday. Nicole Hensley put on a stellar performance in goal, making 31 saves to secure the win.

In addition to Coyne Schofield’s goals, Katy Knoll, Britta Curl-Salemme, and Grace Zumwinkle also found the back of the net for Minnesota, with Taylor Heise contributing three assists. Daryl Watts scored the lone goal for Toronto, with Elaine Chuli making 14 saves before being relieved by Raygan Kirk in the third period.

Watts opened the scoring for Toronto, but Knoll quickly equalized for Minnesota. Curl-Salemme then scored a remarkable goal, followed by Zumwinkle’s power play goal. Coyne Schofield extended the lead with a late goal in the second period and sealed the victory with an empty-netter in the third.

Minnesota displayed a balanced game, combining physicality with discipline and capitalizing on their scoring chances. Despite Toronto’s strong possession and shot advantage, they couldn’t solve Hensley, who made key saves throughout the game.

A key moment came when Coyne Schofield scored a crucial backhand goal, solidifying Minnesota’s lead. Watts also reached a milestone by becoming the second PWHL player to achieve 50 career points.

Looking ahead, the Frost will face the Ottawa Charge, while the Sceptres will host the Seattle Torrent in their next matchups.
