“Glass Contamination Prompts Milk Recall Across Multiple Brands”

Share

Multiple brands of milk are undergoing a recall due to potential glass contamination. Agropur initiated the voluntary recall, affecting two-liter milk cartons sold under the Farmers, Québon, and Natrel labels. The impacted products were distributed in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec, with one Natrel item available nationwide.

Under the Farmers brand, the recall pertains to two-liter cartons of 1% chocolate partly skimmed milk, 1% partly skimmed milk, 2% partly skimmed milk, and 3.25% homogenized milk. These items were distributed in Nova Scotia and P.E.I., with most having best-before dates between late March and early April.

The Natrel recall involves two-liter cartons of 1% lactose-free chocolate partly skimmed milk, distributed nationally, with best-before dates from early April to mid-May. In Quebec, the recall concerns two-liter cartons of Québon 2% chocolate partly skimmed milk, with best-before dates including March 25 and various dates in April.

A food recall advisory cautions against using or consuming the recalled milk products and advises discarding or returning them to the point of purchase. Agropur mentioned in a press release that the affected milk items were produced at its Bedford, N.S., facility.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is conducting a food safety inquiry that could lead to additional recalls. The agency is also ensuring that the recalled products are being removed from the market.
