“Four Linked to Western Univ. Face Bomb-Making Charges”

Four individuals with current or past ties to Western University are facing multiple charges related to the alleged possession of chemicals that could be used to create explosives at a residence west of the campus in London, Ontario.

Residents in the quiet neighborhood expressed surprise and curiosity as police cordoned off the house at 212 Chesham Pl., with one neighbor stating, “Nothing too exciting happens here.”

Additional charges, including firearm manufacturing, were laid against all four suspects on Monday. Here is an overview of each individual:

Jerry Tong

Jerry Tong, aged 27, who does not reside in London, graduated from Western in 2022 with an engineering degree. Tong’s LinkedIn profile indicates he worked as a wealth adviser at National Bank Financial in London before moving to Ottawa for a different role. Tong faces eleven charges, including firearm-related offenses and possession of explosive substances.

Fei (Frank) Han

Fei (Frank) Han, aged 25, attended both Western and Queen’s University, participating in rocketry teams at each institution. He is facing charges related to unlawful possession of explosives and firearms.

Zekun Wang

Zekun Wang, aged 26, is a graduate student at Western and holds degrees in engineering science and science. Wang has been associated with research groups at Western and is facing charges related to firearms and explosive substances.

Feiyang (Astrid) Ji

Feiyang (Astrid) Ji, aged 21, a student at Western, is charged with possession of explosives and firearms. Little information is available about Ji, except that she is listed as a student in the faculty of science.
