Former Montreal Canadiens player André Pronovost, a four-time Stanley Cup champion with the team, has passed away at the age of 90. The Montreal Canadiens confirmed Pronovost’s death on Tuesday, although the cause was not revealed. Hailing from Shawinigan Falls, Quebec, Pronovost had a decade-long career in the NHL, playing for Montreal, Boston, Detroit, and Minnesota.
Pronovost was a key member of the Canadiens’ Stanley Cup-winning teams from 1957 to 1960, contributing 109 points in 290 regular-season games and 22 points in 70 playoff games. He concluded his NHL tenure with the Minnesota North Stars in the 1967-68 season, following his selection in the expansion draft that year. Notably, Pronovost, who is the grandfather of New Jersey Devils forward Anthony Mantha, amassed a total of 198 points across 557 NHL games during his career.
