The former mayor highlighted two recent fatal incidents involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Minneapolis. One incident resulted in the shooting death of ICU nurse Alex Jeffrey Pretti, while another incident saw ICE agent Jonathan Ross fatally shoot Renee Good in a residential area of the city.
Rybak emphasized the community’s united response to the federal government’s immigration crackdown, noting the resilience and support shown by residents. He described Minneapolis as a city in resistance, with residents actively engaging in various forms of protest and solidarity against what they perceive as unjust actions by federal authorities.
Expressing his personal outrage over the killings in his city, Rybak called for broader national support in denouncing the current administration’s immigration policies.
