As the sun was setting in Nanterre, a Paris suburb, on Saturday evening, fans of Céline Dion made their way through tight security and barriers to enter Europe’s largest indoor concert venue. Attending in a variety of outfits ranging from casual to elegant, one woman stood out by wearing her wedding dress.
Fanny Sucheyre, who celebrated her one-year wedding anniversary at the concert, shared, “I canceled my party to see Céline. If I ever got the chance to see her, I promised myself to wear my best dress. So, this is it, my most beautiful dress.”
Thousands of loyal fans gathered at the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre to witness Dion’s return to the stage after a six-year hiatus due to a rare neurological disorder. Fans outside the venue sang along to Dion’s songs in French and English, expressing their admiration for the Canadian singer since childhood.
Inside the arena, special Céline-themed champagne glasses sold out quickly, and the champagne lines extended over 30 meters. Even the men’s restroom had long queues. Guylene Richardson, attending with her daughter, reflected on the moment, saying, “It’s a dream. I’m 50 years old, but right now, I feel like I’m 15. I didn’t think she would come back after her illness, so this is amazing. I’m thrilled for her and for all of us.”
After revealing her diagnosis of stiff person’s syndrome in 2022, Dion disappeared from the public eye but resurfaced in 2024 to perform at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games. Known as one of the best-selling artists of all time, she is set to perform 26 concerts over the next eight months in Paris, generating excitement across the city with signs along the Champs-Élysées and the River Seine.
