David Malukas set the pace during the practice session at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy in Markham by clocking the quickest lap time. Malukas recorded a time of 1 minute and 14.194 seconds in the second practice session of the day, with qualifying scheduled for later in the evening.
Following Malukas, Alex Palou secured the second-best time with a lap time of 1:14.560, while Dennis Hauger took the third spot with a time of 1:14.592 around the Markham downtown road course.
The first day of track sessions had to be called off by organizers due to incomplete course preparations and pending safety inspections.
This year marks the debut of Markham as the host city for the race, which was previously held at Toronto’s Exhibition Place since its inception in 1986.
In the morning’s initial practice session, Palou topped the charts with the fastest time of 1:14.9915.
