Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed frustration over receiving unsolicited beauty advice. Frederiksen, 48, shared on Instagram that upon returning from a trip to Ukraine, where she experienced air raid sirens due to the ongoing war, she received a message from a plastic surgeon offering to address a minor flaw on her nose.
The Prime Minister highlighted the numerous unsolicited comments she has received about her appearance over the years, including remarks about her teeth, hair, and a supposed ‘wart’ on her nose, along with suggestions for Botox. She posted a screenshot of the plastic surgeon’s message without disclosing the sender and responded by asserting her contentment with her body and rejecting the opinion of a male plastic surgeon.
Frederiksen, a Social Democrat and Denmark’s second female prime minister, is currently serving her third term, making her one of Europe’s longest-tenured leaders. She has been leading the European Union and NATO member country since mid-2019.
Emphasizing her commitment to opposing U.S. President Donald Trump’s interests in Greenland, Denmark’s semi-autonomous territory, and her support for Ukraine against Russian aggression, Frederiksen reiterated on Instagram that she does not critique others’ appearances and urged people to engage in meaningful conversations rather than focusing on superficial aspects.
The Prime Minister expressed her displeasure at receiving unsolicited beauty advice, stating that such interactions made her feel indignant. She concluded by sending supportive thoughts to those dealing with societal pressures regarding physical appearance, emphasizing the acceptance of imperfections as part of everyday life.
