During their closed-door meeting, Carney and Macron will engage in discussions on trade, defense, and security. Macron praised Canada as a valuable ally to Europe and France. The meeting, held prior to the upcoming G7 summit, may mark one of the final encounters between the two leaders, as Macron’s current term is scheduled to conclude next spring. France, as the host of this year’s summit, has outlined key priorities, including addressing significant geopolitical challenges, G7 support for Ukraine, and enhancing online child protection measures.
