Canada’s Abigail Strate clinched a bronze medal in the women’s ski jumping World Cup competition on Wednesday. The Calgary native secured 222.3 points in the normal hill event, marking her fourth World Cup medal this season, including one gold, two silver, and one bronze. Her previous three medals were in the large hill event, which will be featured for the first time at the upcoming Milano-Cortina Winter Games.
Austria’s Lisa Eder and Slovakia’s Nika Prevc claimed the top two spots ahead of Strate with scores of 227.9 and 226.5, respectively. Reflecting on her performance, Strate expressed her satisfaction with the day, particularly highlighting her qualifying jump after a break from competition. She aims to carry this momentum into the remainder of the season.
At 24 years old, Strate is gearing up for her second Olympic appearance in February in Italy. In the 2022 Games, she finished 23rd in the individual normal hill event and secured a bronze in the mixed team event.
