Saskatoon police deployed a team of five officers to monitor Kyle Ronald Hameluck from the moment he was released from prison. Hameluck, aged 37, had been serving time for 25 counts of voyeurism, involving the secret recording and photographing of women through their windows while they were undressed.
Following his release, Hameluck was subject to probation conditions, including a prohibition on owning or using any device capable of recording images or videos. Despite this restriction, he faced charges of breaching the condition and entered a not guilty plea. The trial commenced in Saskatoon provincial court on Thursday.
The initial witness in court, Const. Adam Blades, a member of the surveillance team, testified about tracking Hameluck in the city post his release on Valentine’s Day. Blades observed Hameluck engaging with a store clerk at the Midtown Mall in downtown Saskatoon, seemingly purchasing a cellphone.
Upon verifying the purchase, Blades alerted the team leader, who deemed Hameluck arrestable. Subsequently, officers located Hameluck in the mall’s food court, trailed him, and executed the arrest. A Samsung Galaxy A16 phone, equipped with both front and back cameras, was found in Hameluck’s possession, along with the store receipt.
During the arrest, captured on the body cameras of two uniformed officers, Hameluck disclosed the presence of razor blades in his pocket, intended for damaging the phone’s cameras. The officers seized the blades and took Hameluck into custody. He has remained detained since the February incident.
In a preemptive move, police had issued a public alert a few days before Hameluck’s release, featuring his photo and name, citing concerns about the possibility of reoffending. Hameluck’s previous convictions included 25 counts of voyeurism from late 2024 and early 2025, as well as 38 voyeurism charges involving 25 women in 2020. These offenses were committed during a period when Hameluck was already on probation for prior voyeurism and indecent assault convictions dating back to 2017.
