Israeli airstrikes in a southern Lebanese town on Monday resulted in the deaths of at least 11 individuals, including two children and two medics, as reported by Lebanon’s state news agency. Despite a ceasefire in June aimed at halting hostilities between the Israeli military and Hezbollah, Israel has escalated its bombing campaign in southern Lebanon. On Sunday, seven people lost their lives in Israeli strikes.
During the early hours of the morning, Israeli warplanes targeted a residential building in Kfar Rumman in southern Lebanon, claiming the lives of nine individuals, including two children, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency. Additionally, two medics inside a civilian vehicle were killed in a separate Israeli drone strike in the same town.
The Health Ministry of Lebanon stated that one of the strikes hit a building, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals, including a child and two women, and injuring 11 others, including four children and two women.
The Israeli military did not issue an evacuation warning before the strikes on the town, prompting questions about their awareness of the presence of children and medics at the target locations and the lack of a warning. In response to inquiries, the Israeli military did not immediately provide a response.
Following the strikes, an Israeli military spokesperson issued an evacuation warning for areas surrounding a building in another southern Lebanese town, where the military planned to target Hezbollah facilities.
Since Hezbollah’s rocket attacks on Israel in early March, which coincided with U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran, Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of over 4,300 people. While the ceasefire reduced violence significantly, Israeli forces in southern Lebanon have continued to demolish villages within the self-declared security zone. Israeli military operations have persisted in the area without prior evacuation notices.
