International team captain Geoff Ogilvy has selected two Canadians, Corey Conners from Listowel, Ontario, and Nick Taylor from Abbotsford, British Columbia, to join the team. Additionally, Ryo Hisatsune will be part of the team, marking the first time since 1998 that the International team includes two Japanese players, with Hideki Matsuyama already securing one of the six automatic spots.
On the U.S. team, Jackson Koivun, who recently departed Auburn, has been added. Koivun, a newcomer to the American team, achieved early success by winning the 3M Open in his third professional start and qualifying for the PGA Tour postseason in just five tournaments. Notably, Koivun is the first player since Jordan Spieth in 2013 to commence a year without a tour card and compete in the Presidents Cup.
U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker has also chosen Jacob Bridgeman, a victor at Riviera this year, for the team. Snedeker opted for Bridgeman over Ryan Gerard, the 22nd-ranked player globally, who put up a strong performance at the Tour Championship, finishing third.
The Presidents Cup, scheduled for September 24-27 at Medinah, will feature the revamped course designed by Ogilvy’s Australia-based golf course design company.
