In an announcement on Monday, the Chilliwack-Cultus Lake MLA revealed her decision to serve as an Independent. Warbus expressed her dissatisfaction with the leader’s actions or lack thereof, highlighting the turnover within the party and emphasizing the significance of the situation. She noted that not only sitting MLAs but also key members of riding associations and staff have left, affecting the party’s operations. Warbus criticized the cancellation of a scheduled caucus meeting on Sunday, stating that it reflects a lack of regard for the members’ opinions.
B.C. Conservative Leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay has been facing a challenging period with continuous departures of MLAs citing concerns about her leadership style and the high turnover of top party staff. Over the weekend, B.C. Premier David Eby called a byelection in Abbotsford-Mission on Sept. 26, where Findlay was anticipated to participate.
