“Canada’s Women’s Volleyball Team Qualifies for Olympics After 26 Years”

The Canadian women’s volleyball squad secured its spot at the upcoming Olympics for the first time in 26 years after defeating the host Dominican Republic 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 25-23, 25-14) in the decisive match of the NORCECA Continental Qualifier held in Santo Domingo. Leading the charge, Kiera Van Ryk and Alexa Gray of Canada each tallied 22 points, propelling the team to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Canada clinched its maiden NORCECA women’s continental title earlier in the week by achieving a flawless 5-0 record throughout the tournament. Notably, the Canadian women’s team had last finished in a shared ninth place at the Atlanta Games in 1996.
