Brett Lauther’s flawless performance with five successful field goals propelled the Saskatchewan Roughriders to a 21-13 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Banjo Bowl on Saturday. Prior to this game, Lauther had a field goal success rate of 65.7%, making 23 out of 35 attempts. His successful kicks came from distances of 20, 35 (twice), 41, and 33 yards, although he did miss a convert.

This victory improved the Roughriders’ record to 10-2, leading the CFL standings. It marked their first time reaching the 10-win milestone since 2019 when they finished with a 13-5 record but lost in the West Division final to Winnipeg.

The Blue Bombers, with a 6-6 record, held a 13-6 lead at halftime, but their momentum shifted after starting quarterback Zach Collaros suffered an injury. Collaros was forced to leave the game in the third quarter following a sack by Saskatchewan’s C.J. Reavis, causing a turnover that was later overturned due to a roughing the passer penalty.

Collaros, who completed nine of 15 pass attempts for 165 yards with two interceptions and one touchdown, was replaced by Chris Streveler. Streveler struggled, going 5-of-9 passing for 39 yards and throwing two interceptions. On the other side, Trevor Harris had a solid performance for Saskatchewan, completing 18-of-31 passes for 239 yards with one interception.

Running back A.J. Ouellette contributed a five-yard touchdown run among his 11 carries for 50 yards for the Roughriders. Meanwhile, Winnipeg’s Brady Oliveira, who had a tough outing in their previous game, rushed 20 times for 83 yards and added two catches for 19 yards.

Ontaria Wilson, who led the Blue Bombers in receiving yards, made his season debut with five receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown. Wilson recently signed a contract through 2026 after being released by the NFL’s New York Jets.

Sergio Castillo, the Bombers’ kicker, connected on field goals from 39 and 34 yards but missed two longer attempts. Winnipeg led at various points in the game but ultimately fell short as Saskatchewan’s strong performance secured the win. The Roughriders will next host the Montreal Alouettes, while the Blue Bombers will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in their upcoming games.
