The Canadian senior women’s basketball team dominated the Philippines with a commanding 85-38 victory at the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico. Yvonne Ejim led the scoring for Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 15 points to the team’s success.
Canada took an early lead, establishing a strong 23-4 advantage at Arena Astros and extending it to 46-11 by halftime. The tournament, featuring eight teams, will run until Sunday.
Having previously defeated Senegal 72-57 in their tournament opener, Canada is scheduled to face host Mexico in the upcoming match. The ultimate winner of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
