Camryn Rogers secured her sixth consecutive national title in the women’s hammer throw at the Canadian track and field championships held on Thursday. Rogers achieved a remarkable throw of 76.17 meters, surpassing her competitors Jillian Weir (69.50) and Jinaye Shomachuk (69.27).
Maintaining her dominance in the hammer throw discipline, Rogers recently triumphed at the Lone Star Grand Prix event in Texas. The reigning Olympic and world champion showcased her prowess with a winning throw of 79.36m in the third round at Texas A&M University.
Having also triumphed at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland, Rogers exceeded the 80-meter mark for the third time this season. Expressing her joy and gratitude for the ongoing season, Rogers emphasized the continuous growth and learning experiences in her sport.
On the men’s side, reigning national champion Christopher Morales Williams from Vaughan, Ontario, smoothly qualified for the men’s 400-meter final on Friday. The 21-year-old crossed the finish line in 46.05 seconds during the heats, comfortably leading by a full second over his closest rival. Morales Williams previously claimed the world indoors title in March.
